GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay men's soccer team has added two transfer players to its roster effective for the spring 2013 semester, head coach Dan Popik announced Thursday morning.

"I'm excited to welcome Jean Carlo and Taurean to the program and expect both players to have an immediate impact within our team." Popik said. "We added two players from successful college programs who understand what it takes to win. Having both Jean Carlo and Taurean enroll in the spring will be beneficial to their individual growth and to our team preparation for the Fall."

Junior Jean Carlo Perez (New York, N.Y.) comes to Green Bay after a successful stay at Monroe College, a junior college in New York City where he played in the NJCAA National Championship game during the 2011 season, his last season with the program.

"Jean Carlo is a quick, athletic goalkeeper with excellent shot stopping ability." Popik said. "Perez has the potential and ability to be a very good goalkeeper in the Horizon League."

Perez, who will be a junior for the 2013 season, was selected as an All-American following the 2011 season after logging a 0.56 goals against average.

"I'm very excited to be a part of this team and its tradition, and I knew as soon as I met the coaching staff when I was back in New York I'd enjoy playing here in Green Bay," Perez said.

A transfer from High Point University, Tauren Greenidge (Bridgetown, Barbados) is a midfielder that will also be a junior for the 2013 season. Greenidge is a native of Bridgetown, Barbados, and played in 17 games last season for the Panthers.

"Tauren is a talented midfield who will add speed and athleticism to our group.  He can cover a lot of space in the midfield on both sides of the ball," Popik said.  "He played an important role on a very successful High Point team that was ranked in the Top 25 last season."

Greenidge scored a goal in a 6-0 win over Northern Kentucky last season, the same team Green Bay defeated 1-0 on August 24.

"Coach Popik was really nice and is well-educated about the game, so it made my decision to come here a lot easier," Greenidge said.

Not only is Popik pleased with adding two talented players, he's pleased with the fact they chose to transfer to Green Bay from outside the state and even outside the Midwest.

"This is a special program with a great history that has a track record of not only producing professional soccer players but student-athletes who are successful in their post college careers. Having players from different parts of the country and world provides a good learning environment for our student-athletes on and off the field," Popik said.
