CHICAGO (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After spending Dec. 31-Jan. 9 in Venice, Fla., for their annual training trip, the Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned to dual meet action on Saturday in Chicago against Horizon League foe UIC. The host Flames edged the Phoenix on both sides, winning 123-120 in the women's meet and 129-114 in the men's competition.

The meet came down to the final event on the women's side, where UIC took the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:32.93) to earn 11 first-place points and secure the team victory. In all, the Flames had a winner in nine of the meet's 13 women's events.

Junior Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.) paced the Phoenix women with a pair of individual wins, taking the 50 (24.50) and 100 (52.60) freestyle races. Also earning wins for Green Bay were senior Heather Bodin (Maple Grove, Minn.), who won the 200 IM in 2:08.94, and sophomore Dana Iverson (Kenosha, Wis.), who took the 200 backstroke in 2:09.53.

The Green Bay men had a winner in five of the 13 events, including a pair by senior Tyler Evans (Lodi, Wis.). Evans was a member of the winning 400 free relay squad (3:09.83) in the meet's final event, and also picked up a victory in the 200 free (1:45.16).

Senior Mitchell Spaeth (Fredonia, Wis.) had a strong performance on the 3-meter diving board, earning a first-place finish with a huge score of 309.60. Also securing wins for the Phoenix men were juniors Robert Wolf (Wind Lake, Wis.) in the 1000 free (9:53.81) and Brian Heiser (McFarland, Wis.) in the 200 backstroke (1:57.17).

Green Bay will host its annual intrasquad meet next Saturday at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium at 1 p.m. before returning to dual meet action the following weekend. The women's squad will welcome Youngstown State on Saturday, Jan. 26 at noon, while the men's team heads to Indianapolis to face Butler at noon on Sunday, Jan. 27.
