GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Former Green Bay men's soccer standout Tosaint Ricketts (2005-08) recently signed a contract with Norwegian club Valerenga in Oslo after being out of playing action since April. Ricketts' contract is for the remaining nine matches of the season, subject to the release of his Romanian Football Federation international players' license after his former club went bankrupt earlier this summer.
Before inking his new contract, Ricketts played in 24 games for Romanian team Timisoara, scoring six goals. Prior, he played in the Finnish MyPa where he appeared in 38 contests scoring nine goals. Ricketts also played five games for Canada's U23 national team and eight games for the U20 national team, scoring a combined seven goals.
During his career with the Phoenix from 2005-08, Ricketts was an NSCAA Great Lakes Midwest All-Region selection and three-time All-Horizon League selection, earning First Team honors twice (2007, 2008) and Second Team honors once (2006).
Also recently representing Green Bay in pro-circuit news is former 2009 Horizon League Player and Offensive Player of the Year JC Banks (2007-10) who was named to the USL PRO All-League First Team. Banks recently completed his second season with the Rochester Rhinos after winning Rookie of the Year honors in 2011.
Banks' selection to the All-League First Team is the first honor of his pro career. The midfielder was also voted the 2012 Rhinos Offensive Player of the Year and team MVP after leading his club in assists (8) and points (18). Banks led the USL PRO in assists and finished fifth in the league in points. Appearing 19 times throughout his career, the Rhinos are 16-1-2 when Banks is on the field.
Unfortunately at the beginning of the month, Banks tore the ACL in his right knee and is scheduled to have surgery Sept. 19.
