GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay (2-2-0) men's soccer team heads to Dayton, Ohio for the Dayton Marriott Classic Sept. 7-9 at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio. The Phoenix will face the host Flyers (3-1-0) Friday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CT before closing its tournament play Sunday, Sept. 9 against Missouri State (3-0-1) at 10:00 a.m.

Both Green Bay and Dayton enter the Marriott Classic after suffering a road loss Sept. 2. Missouri State heads to Dayton with a three-game shutout winning streak. Eastern Illinois (1-3-0) will be the other team competing in the tournament.

Green Bay's trip to Dayton marks the midpoint of its longest road swing of the season. The Phoenix kicked off its four-game stretch Sept. 2 at Niagara, where it fell 3-1 to the Purple Eagles. The Dayton Tournament will also be Green Bay's final tune-up before battling its first Horizon League opponent of the season at Detroit (1-3-0) Friday, Sept. 14.

Sophomore Kirby Allen (Appleton, Wis.) is off to a great start this season, leading the Phoenix with three goals and one assist. Senior Whitney Browne (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), who faces his former team in Dayton, leads the Phoenix with 13 shots in the young season.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Max Nimmo (Janesville, Wis.) will defend the net for Green Bay as senior captain Ryan Wehking (St. Louis, Mo.) continues to rehab an ankle injury suffered Aug. 31 against Northern Illinois. Nimmo has registered six saves for the Phoenix throughout 138 minutes of play, while picking up his first collegiate win against NIU.

SCOUTING DAYTON: Dayton is off to a 3-1 start this season for the first time since 2003. The Flyers most recent win was a 3-2 victory over then-ranked No. 22 Furman University Aug. 31 in the Nike/Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic. As a result, Dayton is currently ranked 35th in this week's NSCAA poll and 33rd in the College Soccer News poll.

Dayton, who hails from the Atlantic 10 Conference, is being led by senior midfielder Daniel Berko who has scored three goals on the season while midfielder Eddie Jones leads the Flyers with a team-high four assists and eight shots.

SCOUTING MISSOURI STATE: The Bears enter the Dayton Tournament with three consecutive shutout victories for Missouri State's defense and sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Riggs. The Bears' defense has limited its past two opponents to a combined eight shots and one shot on goal in the University of Central Arkansas Tournament. Sophomore defender James Fawke was named Tournament Defensive MVP while midfielder Jack Roberts and defender Andrew Turner were All-Tournament Team selections.

The Dayton Tournament will be the second consecutive tournament for Missouri State who hails from the Missouri Valley Conference. Jared Gain leads the Bears with two assists and one goal while junior forward Cole Alexander has fired a team-high 10 shots, five on goal.
