Green Bay Men's Soccer Participates in Think-A-Thon
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The men's soccer team took some time out of their busy class and offseason conditioning schedules Thursday morning to make a trip to Red Smith School and help out with the school's Think-A-Thon.
Each of the students were asked 100 fast-paced questions as part of Think-A-Thon, and the Phoenix players went around the school helping to ask them questions, congratulating them on their successes and signing autographs. While the kids were excited to hang out with college athletes, Green Bay head coach Tom Poitras said the experience is just as valuable for his program.
"Our program is always willing to contribute to the Green Bay community in any way we can," said Poitras. "Our student-athletes always learn so much about themselves when dealing with young children. The Red Smith Think-A-thon is a fun event which gets kids thinking about many topics, and we are just excited to be a small part of it."
On the field, the men's soccer program had a strong 2010 campaign, finishing the season at 13-4-2 and advancing to the championship game of the Horizon League Championship.
