Banks, Walls Earn Postseason Honors
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - With the men's soccer College Cup Championship wrapping up Dec. 12, the final national statistics have been released and postseason awards handed out, featuring Green Bay players.
Senior midfielder JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) was named to the College Soccer News Third Team All-American and NSCAA Great Lakes All-Region Second Team. This is Banks second selection to the All-Region team while being recognized as a preseason Second Team All-American by College Soccer News.
Banks finished the season ranked in the top 15 nationally in four of six offensive categories. Banks is 12th in points per game (1.67) and total goals (12), 13th in total points (30.0) and 15th in goals per game (0.67). In addition, of 150 players ranked, Banks is 71st in total assists (6.0) and 74th in assists per game (0.33).
Junior Tony Walls (Wauwatosa, Wis.) was named to the NSCAA Great Lakes All-Region Third Team. It is the second time in Walls' collegiate career he was named to the All-Region team after being a 2009 First Team selection.
The midfielder finished the season ranked in the top 100 nationally in three offensive statistical categories. Of 150 players ranked, Walls is 88th in points per game (1.0), 93rd in total goals (12.0) and 95th in goals per game (0.39). In addition Walls ranks 102nd in total points (18.0).
Both Banks and Walls are Horizon League First Team and All-Tournament Team selections.
As a team, Green Bay (13-4-2) finished the season ranked 16th nationally in won-lost-tied percentage (0.737), 20th in scoring offense (1.95) and 22nd in total goals (37.0). A total of 201 teams are included in the rankings.
