Men's Soccer Finishes Road Trip with Game at Cleveland State
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men’s soccer team will look to maintain its winning ways when it travels to Cleveland State for a noon matchup.
The game concludes a span of seven of eight matches away from Aldo Santaga Stadium, with the Phoenix going 3-2-2 during the run including a current streak of five unbeaten.
Saturday’s contest will be the 39th meeting, with Green Bay leading the all-time series 19-15-4.
Green Bay is coming off an exciting 2-1 triumph over Milwaukee to reclaim the Chancellor’s Cup. Sabastian Xiong (Cottage Grove, Wis.) connected on a PK in the 75th minute to tie the match and an offensive touch by Sam Krenzien (Wauwatosa, Wis.) that bounced off a defender’s knee and ended in an own goal sealed the win in the 106th minute. Kyle Ihn made a career-high 13 saves including stopping a Milwaukee PK attempt in the first half.
Krenzien continues to lead the team and conference with 20 points on eight goals and four assists. Lawrence Talery (Coon Rapids, Minn.) has a team-best five assists, the second-best total in the Horizon League. Ihn has appeared in nine of 11 matches this season, posting a 1.57 goals-against average and a .727 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS: Roster Schedule Stats
Cleveland State enters the weekend 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League. The Vikings have lost five consecutive matches dating back to September 22, including a 2-1 loss to No. 20 Akron on Wednesday. Each of the losses was decided by one goal.
The reigning Horizon League champions are 0-2 in conference play this season, dropping decisions to Oakland and UIC.
Jordan Hart leads the team with seven points on three goals and one assist, while Aslinn Rodas has a team-best two assists. Nick Ciraldo has seen the most time in net for the Vikings, posting a 1.33 goals-against average and a .652 save percentage.
