EVANSTON, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Senior Ellyn Hansen (Milton, Wis.) had a team-best eight-over par 81 Monday to lead Green Bay in round one of the Loyola Spring Invitational in Evanston, Ill. The Phoenix, after shooting 343, is in seventh place after 18 holes in its final event before this month's Horizon League Championship.
Western Illinois is leading the event after firing a 19-over par 311 on Monday. WIU holds a four-stroke lead over Loyola (315) and is six strokes ahead of both Northern Illinois (317) and Chicago State (317). SIU Edwardsville rounds out the top five with a 330.
Junior Eleanor Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.) was second on the Phoenix Monday with a 12-over 85 while sophomore Christina De Boer (Onalaska, Wis.) and junior Steph Fitfield (Oconto Falls, Wis.) rounded out the Green Bay scorers with an 88 and 89, respectively.
The nine teams in the field will wrap up play with Tuesday's final round at the Evanston Golf Club beginning at 9 a.m.
