Green Bay Falls to Valpo in Dual Match
MUSKEGO, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Junior Grace Abitz (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Katie Pokrandt (Eau Claire, Wis.) matched each other with rounds of 80 and 81 to finish in a tie for fourth place as the Green Bay women’s golf team dropped a dual match with Valparaiso 620-651. The 36-hole event was played Sunday and Monday at Muskego Lakes Golf Course in Muskego, Wis.
On Sunday, the Phoenix shot a team score of 324 with freshman Steph Laude (Slinger, Wis.) carding the squad’s best score at 6-over par 78. Pokrandt shot a score of 80 while Abitz posted a score of 81.
In Monday’s round two, sophomore Renee Christensen (Greenleaf, Wis.) carded a 79 to shave 10 strokes off her first round score and lead Green Bay. Abitz and Pokrandt tallied scored of 80 and 81, respectively on Monday to finish at 161 and in a tie for fourth.
Valparaiso’s Michelle Kleckner shot rounds of 75 and 76 to shoot a 36-hole total of 151 and beat teammate Erika Pfaender by three strokes.
Green Bay will next be in action in the Chicago area, competing in the Loyola Horizon League Championship Preview on April 20-21 at Golf Club of Illinois.
