Women's Soccer Heads to Youngstown State for Saturday Matinee

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s soccer team will take to the road this weekend, traveling to Youngstown State on Saturday for a noon affair.
The Phoenix is 4-3-4 this season and opened Horizon League play with a 2-0 win over Oakland last Saturday. Heidi Hartmann (Plymouth, Minn.) and Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) each had a goal in the match, while Nastacia Behle (St. Paul, Mo.) earned her second shutout of the season after making seven saves.
As a team this season, Green Bay has outshot its opponents 157-107, including 68-46 on goal, and has also created more set piece scoring opportunities with a 51-34 advantage in corner kicks.
Hartmann and Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) stand atop the team leaderboard with two goals and three assists each (7 pts.). Behle has appeared in nine of the 11 matches this season, posting a 1.00 goals-against average and a .742 save percentage.

Saturday’s match is the 14th meeting between the two squads, with the Phoenix leading the series 10-2-1. Green Bay won last year’s meeting, scoring the game-winning goal in double overtime to edge the Penguins, 2-1 at home.

Youngstown enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-8-1 and 0-1 in the Horizon League, dropping its conference opener at Wright State 1-0 last Saturday.
Brittany Dowd leads the team with two goals, while five other Penguins have netted one goal. Katie Hohmann and Karlee Kline have a team-best two assists each. In net, Jackie Podolsky has started nine of the 11 matches, recording a 1.26 goals-against average and a .807 save percentage with an overall record of 2-6-1.
