Green Bay Concludes League Championship in Fifth Place
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Playing his final round of his collegiate career, senior Chad Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.) carded a 3-over par 75 to lead the Green Bay men’s golf team at the 2013 Horizon League Championships at the par-72, 6,770-yard El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort Club and Resort. The defending champion, Ebert had four birdies on Sunday and finished in a tie for 12th place (226, +10) as the Phoenix ended the 54-hole tournament in fifth place.
Green Bay posted rounds of 304, 302 and 304 to finish at 46-over par 910. Valparaiso won the tournament title (884, +20) while Cleveland State (888, +24), Detroit (901, +37) and Loyola (906, +42) also finished in the top-five.
Junior Dan Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) was two strokes back of Ebert on Sunday and for the weekend, tying for 14th place with a 54-hole score of 12-over 228. Like Ebert, senior Cam Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) closed out his Phoenix career finishing in a tie for 16th place (229, +13).
Freshman Gene Kiela (Plymouth, Wis.) and sophomore Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) had the second best rounds on the squad on Sunday, carding 76s. Kiela played his final 12 holes in 1-under par with 11 pars and a birdie and tied for 30th (230, +14). Boockmeier had three birdies in his final round and tied for 27th (235, +19) for the weekend.
