GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Four UW-Green Bay student-athletes have been selected as members of the Academic All-Horizon League teams for the spring semester of 2012, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Student-athlete nominees were voted upon by the league's faculty athletics representatives and athletics communications directors.

Picking up academic all-league honors for the Phoenix were men's tennis players Paul Swanson (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Erik Finkenbrink (Duelmen, Germany), men's golfer Cam Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) and women's golfer Eleanor Yorobe (Bloomington, Minn.). The four contributed to Green Bay Athletics' 25th-consecutive semester with a 3.0 grade-point average or higher, as the department combined for a school-record 3.27 GPA in the spring.

Swanson, who graduated in May with a degree in business administration, was a First Team All-Horizon League selection after leading the Phoenix to its first conference title and first NCAA Tournament appearance. Swanson played in the top singles spot for Green Bay in the spring, posting a 17-6 overall singles record. He was named Horizon League Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in April (April 3 and April 10), and finished his career as Green Bay's all-time leader in singles victories with a 94-42 record. Swanson graduated with a 3.30 cumulative GPA, including a 3.75 within his major.

Finkenbrink was also a key contributor on the men's tennis team's run to the NCAA Tournament, earning Second Team All-Horizon League recognition after notching a 16-6 singles record and a 20-3 doubles record. The junior business administration major carries an impressive 3.85 GPA in the classroom and was tabbed as the conference player of the week on March 3.

Fuller, a junior business administration major, had a strong season on the course for the Phoenix, highlighted by a second-place finish at the 2012 Horizon League Championships which landed him on the all-tournament team. The owner of a 3.54 GPA, Fuller also shot a season-low 72 at the Detroit Mercy Invitational in April.

Yorobe, a senior business administration major with a 3.73 GPA, ended her career in grand fashion with a top-10 finish at the 2012 Horizon League Championships. She finished second on the team in scoring average and shot a low round of 79 at the Valparaiso Invitational.

In all, 92 Horizon League student-athletes were recognized across eight spring sports. Green Bay participates in five of the eight sports, as the school does not sponsor baseball or men's and women's track and field. To view a list of all honorees, click here.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or higher and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 credits.
