Rachel Buck Named Assistant Director of Communications
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Rachel Buck has been hired as an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications with Green Bay Athletics, Interim Director of Athletics Dan McIver announced on Tuesday. Buck, who began her appointment on Tuesday, is a Wisconsin native who has spent the past two years working at George Mason.
“We are thrilled to be adding Rachel to our communications team,” said McIver. “Rachel’s background includes a variety of valuable experiences at the collegiate and professional levels that will make her a great fit to work with our student-athletes, coaches and media members.”
As part of her responsibilities at Green Bay, Buck will serve as the primary sport contact for men’s and women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s Nordic skiing and softball. She will also update and generate content for GreenBayPhoenix.com.
“I am extremely excited to get started at Green Bay,” said Buck. “This is a great opportunity to work with outstanding student-athletes, coaches and personnel at an exceptional university.”
Buck served as the primary media relations contact for seven sports while working as an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications at George Mason, including men’s soccer, men’s volleyball and baseball. She had previously worked for two years as a Sports Information Assistant at Washington and Lee University, where she worked with the women’s basketball program.
A native of Merrill, Wis., Buck graduated in 2006 from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. In June 2009, Buck earned her master’s degree in sport industry management from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
Buck’s background in athletics also includes a long list of experiences in professional sports, including working as a media relations fellow for the Washington Capitals and as the Director of Promotions and Entertainment for the Wisconsin Woodchucks. She has also worked as a media relations intern for the Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Admirals and Milwaukee Wave.
