Green Bay Dealt 4-3 Road Loss at Stetson
DELAND, Fla. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team (10-6) suffered a tough 4-3 road loss at Stetson (6-6) on Tuesday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
The host Hatters grabbed the doubles point to start the match, and then claimed three of the six singles contests to secure the win.
Following doubles play, Stetson made it 2-0 when Chester Espie defeated Joey Leto (Downers Grove, Ill.) 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 singles spot, but Green Bay rebounded with three straight wins to take a 3-2 lead.
Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) got the Phoenix on the board with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over Laurynas Antropikas at No. 1, while Leopold Gomez Islinger (Weiden, Germany) and Jorge Gonzalez Soler (Madrid, Spain) scored wins at No. 2 and No. 6 to put Green Bay ahead.
The Hatters bounced back, however, winning at the No. 3 and No. 5 singles spots.
Green Bay is next in action on March 28 at in-state rival and nationally-ranked (No. 72) Marquette.
