GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay freshman Ben Loeffelholz (Dubuque, Iowa) has been selected as the Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week for the period of Dec. 5-11, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It marks the first weekly honor of his young career.

Loeffelholz won a pair of individual events in Green Bay's dual meet victory over Valparaiso on Saturday. The freshman took the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.84, while also touching in first in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.91.

Loeffelholz is the first Green Bay men's swimmer to be named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week since former Phoenix standout Alex Hill won the award on Oct. 17, 2007.

The Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams are preparing to depart for Venice, Fla., for their annual winter training trip. The Phoenix squads will be in Florida from Jan. 2-11 and will compete against Illinois Wesleyan on the evening of their arrival.
