GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Following a four-win performance in a runaway dual meet victory over UIC on Saturday, Green Bay senior Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.) has been selected as the Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the period of January 7-13. It marks Wolf’s second weekly award of the season.
“Achieving Swimmer of the Week is a great recognition of Parker’s efforts, not only in meets, but in how she approaches practice every day,” Phoenix head coach Jim Merner said. “With this being her senior year, she is really focused on trying to achieve her goals and end her career on a high note. We are very happy with how consistent she has been on a weekly basis, and getting this award is awesome for her.”
Coming off a grueling 10-day training trip in Florida, Wolf showed no signs of fatigue as she won both the 50 (24.23) and 100 (52.69) freestyle races on Saturday, and also anchored the winning 200 medley (1:47.18) and 200 free (1:38.24) relays.
Wolf has now won 13 individual events on the year, and the 191-106 win over the Flames moved the Phoenix women to a perfect 6-0 in dual meets in 2013-14.
Green Bay continues its stretch of four straight home meets this weekend when it hosts Valparaiso on Friday at 6 p.m. and IUPUI on Saturday at noon at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium.
