GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay senior Parker Wolf (Kohler, Wis.) has been tabbed as the Horizon League Women’s Swimmer of the Week following an outstanding start to her 2013-14 season, the league office announced on Tuesday. It marks the first weekly award of her career.
Wolf helped the Phoenix women to three conference road victories in a three-day span over the weekend, winning eight total events. Green Bay started its season with a convincing win at Wright State (168-73) on Thursday before taking down Youngstown State (182-118) on Friday and Cleveland State (138-105) on Saturday.
“It’s very difficult to go back-to-back-to-back like that, especially with travel in between each meet,” Phoenix head coach Jim Merner said. “For Parker to be able to accomplish what she did this weekend shows a lot about her work ethic and how serious she is. She was very consistent all weekend. She was a great leader – both in her individual events and in relays, and I’m really happy that Parker has achieved this honor this week.”
Wolf won the 50-yard freestyle in all three meets, recording increasingly faster times of 24.53, 24.43 and 24.23. She also won the 100 free against both Wright State (54.41) and Youngstown State (53.52). Additionally, Wolf was a member of a winning relay team on each day, helping the Phoenix claim the 400 free relay against the Raiders (3:36.39) and the Vikings (3:31.68) and the 200 free relay (1:37.74) against the Penguins.
After the long road trip to start the year, the Phoenix will have its first home meet of the season this weekend against South Dakota State on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.#
