GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men’s basketball team has added junior college transfer Lamin Fulton (Philadelphia, Pa.) to its 2013-14 roster, head coach Brian Wardle announced on Wednesday. The 5-foot-10 junior guard is eligible to play immediately for the Phoenix.

“Lamin will be a great addition to our program and we are excited to welcome him to Green Bay,” said Wardle. “Having played at the Division I level and at a highly successful junior college program, Lamin brings a lot of experience to our team. Lamin has played for excellent coaches and programs and his competitive, winning mentality fits perfectly into our locker room. He is a tough, combo guard that can stretch defenses with his shooting ability.”

“The tradition here was exciting,” said Fulton. “I wanted to come to a winning program with great coaches and great players. It is always good to play with other good players. It is a family atmosphere here, and that is what I like. Everywhere I went [on my visit], it felt like family. I fit right in with everyone. I loved the coaches, the players, and the school. Everything felt great here.”

In 2012-13, Fulton played for one of the nation’s top Division I junior colleges, Northwest Florida State College. Starting 21 games for the national runner-up team that posted a 30-4 record, Fulton averaged seven points per game. Fulton started in the national championship game and scored 13 points. On the season, the guard knocked down 42 three-pointers and scored in double figures nine times.

“My experience there will help me big time,” said Fulton of his time at junior college. “We played on a lot of big stages against a lot of the players you are going to see around the country in the NCAA this year. It helped me out a lot because I played for coaches that coached at a high level. We had Division I type practices last year at junior college, so that was a blessing.”

A 2011 graduate of Neuman Goretti High School in Philadelphia, Fulton spent his freshman season at St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, N.J. Fulton started 24 games as a freshman and was third on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game. He played nearly 30 minutes per game and knocked down 59 three-pointers.

In high school, Fulton was the 2011 Philadelphia Catholic League Player of the Year and led Neuman Goretti to two state titles, three Catholic League titles and three City titles. Fulton was voted first-team all-state, first-team all-city and first-team All-Catholic League as a junior and a senior.

Green Bay, who returns four starters from a team which posted an 18-16 record in 2012-13, recently completed an undefeated foreign tour to the Bahamas.

Green Bay’s complete men’s basketball schedule for the 2013-14 season was released on Tuesday. Among the highlights, Wardle’s team will participate in the season-opening HBCU Tip-Off Championship (Nov. 8-10) and the Great Alaska Shootout (Nov. 28-30) as well as host home games Wisconsin (Nov. 16) and Virginia (Dec. 7).
