GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - One week has passed since the last meeting at the Resch Center, but so much has changed as Green Bay and Milwaukee will square off for the third time this season. Last Tuesday, on Feb. 26, junior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) scored a career-high 28 points as Green Bay defeated Milwaukee 78-61 at the Resch Center. In conference tournament action, Green Bay and Milwaukee last played on March 4, 2000, with the Panthers winning 62-58 in Chicago. The previous year, Green Bay won 72-66 on Feb. 27, 1999, in Chicago.

2. LAUDED ALL-LEAGUE: Keifer Sykes, Alec Brown and Jordan Fouse were all honored by the Horizon League on Monday with postseason accolades. Sykes, who ranks in the top-5 in the conference in points and assists, was named to the first team while Brown was a second-team selection after averaging 15.6 points in league play. Fouse, who led the conference in rebounding, was the runner-up for Newcomer of the Year and named to the All-Newcomer team.

3. DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE: Brown and Fouse both were named to the five-player All-Defensive Team after helping the Phoenix rank first in field goal percentage defense, rebounding and blocked shots in league play. Brown and Fouse are the first Phoenix players to be named all-defense since 2008-09 and the first Green Bay duo on the team since 1997-98. In addition, Fouse is the first freshman in the conference to be named to the All-Defensive Team since another Phoenix player, Terry Evans in 2005-06.

Green Bay posted 20 and 17-point wins over Milwaukee but both games were close in the second half. The Phoenix had a strong edge in field goal percentage, shooting 47.9 percent to just 37.6 percent for Milwaukee. Green Bay also had a plus-9.0 rebounding margin and made five more threes despite nine fewer attempts. Junior Alec Brown averaged 25.5 points per game, making 19-of-30 shots from the field, 5-of-7 threes and all eight of his free throws.

• HOME SWEET HOME: The Phoenix is 11-3 at the Resch Center in 2012-13, including 6-2 in Horizon League play. In the past three seasons under head coach Brian Wardle, Green Bay has a 33-9 record in 42 home games. Sykes is averaging 16.6 points and five assists per game in 14 home games this season, going 83-of-104 from the line. Brown is chipping in 13.4 points per game and shooting 52 percent from long range. Led by Sykes, the Phoenix has made 123 more free throws at home than its opponents (258-135).

• COMEBACK TIME: Green Bay has shown the ability to come back and handle adversity throughout the season. Most recently, the Phoenix has overcome a second-half deficit in five of its past six victories. The team has won its last five games following a loss, and ended a season-long four-game losing streak by defeating Marquette 49-47 on Dec. 19.

• SECOND-HALF SYKES: Sykes, one of just two Horizon League players to be named Player of the Week at least three times this season, has excelled in the clutch. In the past five Horizon League games, he has scored 70 of his 95 points in the second half, averaging 14 second half points. For the season, Sykes averages 9.2 points per game after halftime.

• BROWN'S BLOCK PARTY: Brown blocked 42 shots in Horizon League play to become the fourth player in league history with more than 200 career rejections. The 7-foot-1 Brown is third in Horizon League history in blocks with 211, behind only YSU's Damian Eargle (293) and Dan Godfread (226) from Evansville. Brown's 55 blocks this season are the third-most all-time, behind only his totals as a sophomore (89) and a freshman (67). Brown is one of only three players in conference history with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 career blocks.

• REJECTIONS REGISTERED: With Brown (55), Fouse (43), Mays (17) and Cougill (15) all in double figures in blocks, the Phoenix has now swatted 143 shots on the season to break the single-season school record. The past three seasons are the top-three single-season totals in program history, with 119 in 2010-11 and 142 the past two seasons. In league play, Green Bay blocked 90 shots, just four shy of the conference record of 94 set by the Phoenix last season.
