GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - The 2012-13 Green Bay men's basketball team will take the floor for the first time in competition on Wednesday night when they host St. Norbert in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. As practices, scrimmages and media days have been held over the past few weeks, junior preseason All-Horizon League selection Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) has been getting his share of media attention.

The 7-foot-1 Brown, who to this point has accumulated numbers that compare to any Phoenix player in history through two seasons, enters his junior season with 739 points, 425 rebounds and 156 blocks. His play has led to being pegged first-team All-Horizon League as a sophomore and now a Preseason All-League selection for 2012-13.

Brown's production, size and ability are being recognized by college basketball writers nationally, including an appearance in hard copy of the USA Today's Horizon League preview on Oct. 18. The publication named Brown and sophomore Keifer Sykes to its preseason all-Horizon League squads.

Medcalf was mentioning Brown again the same day when he listed the 7-foot-1 junior as an honorable mention selection in his list of the nation's scariest defenders.
