GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – The Green Bay men’s soccer team enjoyed a 4-0 victory over St. Thomas on Thursday night in its first exhibition action of the season. The Phoenix scored three goals in the first half before adding the fourth midway through the second half at Santaga Stadium.

The first goal of the evening came off the foot of Faycal Oulahbib (Chelles, France), who converted a clean strike into the back of the net from the top of the 18-yard box. Oulahbib finished with his left foot into the right corner of the net, which was all set up perfectly off the assist from Tyler Swanner (Glen Carbon, Ill.).

Sophomore Audi Jepson (Green Bay, Wis.) then tallied back-to-back goals for the Phoenix, scoring his first on the rebound shot from Oulahbib and burying into the corner of the net past the outstretched arms of the St. Thomas keeper. Oulahbib was given the assist on the play, as his initial shot led to the Jepson score.

“We started the game very patient. We had good ideas and we didn’t force things. When we finally found our rhythm we were able to pick out the opportunities and score a couple of good goals,” Coach Marc Baumbach said.

Less than 10 minutes later, Jepson notched his second goal of the game to give Green Bay a 3-0 score. Jepson burned the visitors’ keeper from about 35 yards out, giving him two goals and the Phoenix a three-goal advantage.

Swanner made an impact on the match again in the second half, when he scored the team’s fourth goal. The sophomore midfielder put one into the back of the net after Jepson’s shot was initially saved. Both players combined to score eight points in the match.

“We are still in the middle of our preseason and this match did well to organize us for the next one. Thanks to St. Thomas for coming here and challenging us throughout the match. This did a lot to prepare us for the season opener,” Baumbach said.

The backline of Defrim Ramushevski (South Milwaukee, Wis.), Billy Donovan (St. Louis, Mo.) and Trey Benhart (Lakeville, Minn.) kept the Tommies out of their goal and essentially out of their end of the field. Dani Alvarado (Leander, Tex.) and Kyle Ihn (Wales, Wis.) combined for the clean sheet in goal.
