DETROIT, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Junior Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.) poured in a game-high 29 points on Saturday afternoon as visiting Green Bay (24-5, 14-2 HL) finished its impressive regular season in fashion, posting a 75-66 win at Detroit (13-18, 6-10 HL).

Detroit jumped out to an early 13-5 lead behind 10 early points from junior Juwan Howard, Jr., but Green Bay responded quickly. With the game tied at 25-25, Sykes drained a three-pointer to start a 12-5 run which put the Phoenix in front 37-30 at the break. Sykes scored 15 points in the first half to lead all scorers.

Despite trailing throughout most of the second half, the Titans battled tough and trailed just 59-58 with 4:30 to play. Sykes then made two three-pointers late in the shot clock as part of a 8-2 spurt.

In the final minute, the 5-foot-11 point guard scored Green Bay’s final six points, including two on an emphatic windmill dunk with 23 seconds to play.

Sykes finished the game with 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and added four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 35 minutes. He knocked down a career-high five three-pointers on just eight attempts as Green Bay went 9-of-17 from long range.

Junior Greg Mays (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Carrington Love (Milwaukee, Wis.) each added 11 points, with Love dishing out six assists with no turnovers. Senior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) totaled nine points, five rebounds and three blocked shots. With 91 blocks on the season, Brown broke his own single-season blocks standard.

Green Bay heads back home to play host to the 2014 Horizon League Championship. Two second round games will take place at the Resch Center on Friday night, with the top-seeded Phoenix playing in the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
