GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Using a 38-3 run that spanned both halves, Green Bay (7-3) turned a four-point deficit into a 31-point lead at the Resch Center on Tuesday night, propelling itself to a 76-49 victory over visiting Tennessee Tech (6-7). The victory was the fourth in the past five games for Green Bay and helped the team avenge a road loss to the Golden Eagles last season.

With 4:16 remaining in the first half, Green Bay trailed its visitors 27-23 after an 11-2 run by Tennessee Tech. During the next 15 minutes and 27 seconds of game action, the Golden Eagles would make just 1-of-19 shots and commit 13 turnovers as the Phoenix took a 61-30 lead at the 8:49 mark.

After ending the first half on an 11-1 run to take a 34-28 halftime lead, Green Bay scored 27 of the first 29 in the second half. Junior Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.) and senior Vincent Garrett (Chicago, Ill.) scored the first 11 points for Green Bay in the second half.

Sykes, who had 11 points at halftime, went to the bench at the 14:59 mark after a hard foul and fall to the ground, but the All-League point guard returned for a couple of minutes midway through the half. He finished with a team-high 17 points in 26 minutes.

Garrett scored all of his career-high 16 points during the second half, including nine during the decisive run coming out of intermission. The senior went 5-of-10 from the field, 2-of-3 from long range and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

For the night, Green Bay held the Golden Eagles to just 30.2 percent from the field (19-63) and 1-for-16 from beyond the arc. The Phoenix defense, led by sophomore Jordan Fouse (Racine, Wis.) and senior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.), tallied nine blocks and 15 steals. Fouse finished with six points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks while Brown totaled 15 points, six rebounds, four blocks and two steals.

Green Bay shot 60.9 percent from the field in the second half and finished 27-of-52 overall for 51.9 percent.

Continuing its season-long five-game homestand, the Phoenix will host Fairfield on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Resch Center. The Festival Foods Family Game will feature tickets as low as $9 for adults and $7 for youth.
