GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – Junior Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the fifth time in his career, the League office announced on Monday. The 5-foot-11 guard shares this week’s award with Milwaukee’s Steve McWhorter.

Sykes, an All-Horizon League First-Team selection in 2012-13, previously won the award once as a freshman and three times during his sophomore campaign. The five selections tie Jeff Nordgaard for the most in Green Bay history and rank in a tie for 12th in conference history.

On Saturday in front of a record crowd at the Resch Center, Sykes scored a career-high 32 points against No. 20/19 Wisconsin. Green Bay fell 69-66 despite Sykes’ heroics, which included 16 points in each half and two dunks from the diminutive Chicagoan.

Averaging 21 points through Green Bay’s first two contests, Sykes has now scored 916 career points in 66 career games and is closing in on becoming the program’s 26th member of the 1,000-point club. He is on pace to reach 1,000 points faster than all but two players in the program’s Division I history – Tony Bennett (56 games) and Richard Sims (68). Only five players in program history at any level scored more points through 66 games than Sykes.

  • Green Bay remained at No. 21 in the Mid-Major Top-25 for the third-straight week.
  • The attendance at the Resch Center of 9,906 broke the program record of 9,759 set on Dec. 9, 2009 when the Phoenix last hosted Wisconsin.
  • It was the fourth time that Green Bay had played a home game in front of 9,000-plus spectators.
  • Sykes 32 points were a career high, besting 31-point efforts against Chicago State (Nov. 10) and at Valparaiso (March 9) in 2012-13.
  • The junior has 12 career games of 20 or more points.
  • Sykes has reached double figures in 13-straight games and 30 of his past 32 games.
  • Sophomore Jordan Fouse extended two impressive streaks on Saturday night with 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.
  • Fouse has now blocked at least one shot in 25-straight contests and grabbed five or more rebounds in 21 consecutive games.
  • The reigning Horizon League rebounding champion has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in 11 of 36 career games.
  • Fouse leads the conference in rebounding (11.0) and blocks (3.0) per game.
  • Green Bay has blocked nine shots in each of its games this season. The efforts are tied for the fifth-best single game block total in program history.
  • With 18 blocks through two seasons, Green Bay is off to a good start in its attempt to break the single-season program record for the fourth consecutive season.
  • Four Phoenix players have accounted for all 18 of the team’s blocks – Fouse (6), junior Greg Mays (4), senior Alec Brown (4) and freshman Kenneth Lowe (4).
  • Green Bay did not allow a fastbreak point or a second-chance point to the Badgers on Saturday.
  • The Phoenix has outrebounded each of its opponents this season.
