NASSAU, Bahamas (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Junior Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.) finished his foreign tour with another stellar game, scoring 26 points and putting Green Bay in front with a three-point play with under 30 seconds to play as the Phoenix defeated the Real Deal Shockers 75-71 on Thursday night.

Senior Vincent Garrett (Chicago, Ill.) gave Green Bay a 68-65 lead with seven-straight points in the fourth quarter. The Phoenix led 70-66 before a banked in three-pointer and two free throws put the Shockers ahead 71-70 with a minute to play.

After a timeout, Sykes went to the rim, scored and was fouled. The 5-foot-11 point guard converted the free throw for a 73-71 advantage. The Phoenix got a stop and junior Greg Mays (Chicago, Ill.) grabbed the board and was fouled. Free throws by Sykes and Mays gave the Phoenix its third win on the trip. Mays had his third-straight solid game, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds.

Sykes, who averaged 24 points per game as Green Bay went 3-0 in the Bahamas, added nine steals and five assists. Senior Vince Garrett scored seven points in the opening quarter and found Mays for two monster dunks in transition. Junior Alfonzo McKinnie (Chicago, Ill.) also had a putback dunk in the first as Green Bay led 21-20.

In the second quarter, both teams played extremely physical defense and the Phoenix went into halftime with a 35-34 edge.

Green Bay trailed 46-43 midway through the third quarter, but Garrett and sophomore Carrington Love (Milwaukee, Wis.) fueled a 16-6 run to give the Phoenix a 59-52 lead after three. Garrett had his best game of the trip, posting a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Sophomore Jordan Fouse (Racine, Wis.) grabbed 11 boards and had three blocked shots as the Phoenix outrebounded its third opponents in as many games (53-49).

Senior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.), a two-time All-Horizon League performer, missed all three games with a sprained ankle. Brown has never missed a game in his Green Bay career.
