Greeting Phoenix Fans

Green Bay volleyball competed in its first spring tournament on March 26. During our spring season, we are allowed to compete in 4 "play dates." We have two more tournaments remaining on our schedule -- this weekend at UIC and April 23 at Northwestern. Hard to believe but we only have two more weeks of spring training before our team is officially on its own for the summer!
As many of you know, we have officially started tournaments for the spring season. After almost two months of working our butts off in the weight room, in the turf gym conditioning, and on the court with each other, it feels great to compete against other teams! Spring season is always the time to start fresh from the fall. You no longer have your seniors on the team, and people are learning that they have to step into new roles on the court. We like to use spring season as a time to set the tone for what we want the fall to look like. Coming out of the gate at our home tournament, we didn't have the exact start that we were looking for. We struggled communicating on the court and getting a string of points to go our way. As the afternoon went on, we started to come into our own! We were truly taking progressive steps towards what we want to be in the fall: Horizon league season champs and tournament champs.
Every new season that comes our way I get chills at the chance of starting new. I especially love the idea of our unique situation we have going this spring, fourteen returning players from the fall! I feel completely blessed at having such a unique senior spring season. We have such a great opportunity to accomplish things this spring and carry them over into the fall season. Everyone will have a chance at playing this spring, which means we will have depth in every position. Everyday, we come in and work with different teammates. This allows us to become comfortable with anyone and any line-up coach might put out on the court. After all of the hard work we are putting in this spring, Green Bay volleyball will be a force to be reckoned with!
