Two Days That I Will Never Forget...
By Leah VanZeeland
Being in Green Bay during the Super Bowl was an awesome experience! I never would have imagined that I would have the opportunity to get "up close and personal" with the Green Bay Packer players.
So as we all know the Packers won the Super Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday. I was very excited, and was trying to plan the next day because there was so much going on in the city of Green Bay. When Monday came around, we still did not know what the schedule of events was until about noon, so we left campus at 12:30 and headed down to Lambeau Field (along with everyone else in Green Bay!) to greet the players when they got off the buses. We were right in the front row next to the fence at Lambeau. We cheered loudly as we saw all the players walk by. We of course took lots of pictures (as you can see from my Facebook page)!!
We decided to leave once most of the players had left. While we were pulling out of the parking lot a vehicle with Packer players pulled out in front of us, while at the next stop light, we saw who was in the vehicle. It was Donald Driver and Greg Jennings! Driver personally waved to us so we forgave them for cutting us off! We thought nothing could top this amazing day, but we were wrong.
Tuesday we decided to get tickets for the Return to Title Town -- the Super Bowl celebration. We ended up in the fourth row in the end zone! At the end of the ceremony the players with the trophy walked around the whole field and gave High Fives. We worked our way into the first row, so once again we got to see the Packers up close and personal and more High Fives! It was the most incredible feeling to see the players and trophy that close - we felt like we were a part of the championship. We were so happy that we did not even care that we were frozen! Being in Green Bay for the Super Bowl and the Return to Title Town is one memory that I will never ever forget! The only thing that will top it is winning a Horizon League volleyball championship!
Go Pack Go!!
