GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay volleyball head coach Sean Burdette has announced the addition of 5-foot-8 setter Kayla Pfeiffer (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township HS) to his 2014 roster. Pfeiffer becomes the sixth member of Green Bay’s incoming freshman class.
“Today is an exciting day as we add Kayla Pfeiffer to our roster for this fall,” said Burdette, who is in his first season with the Phoenix. “Kayla’s skill set, competitiveness and leadership are big additions to our program, and we are very fortunate to have her join our team. She has a great ability to find and connect with the middle hitters in her running of an offense, which will play a key role in our gym and our systems. She also adds versatility in that she has been an attacker in club ball and is a very strong defender.”
Pfeiffer plays club for Ultimate Volleyball 18 Gold – one of the top junior club teams in the Chicagoland area. She led her team to a top-10 finish in the Great Lakes Power League, which is considered one of the toughest leagues in the country.
At Lockport Township High School, Pfeiffer was an all-area selection by the Southtown Star and the Joliet Herald News in both 2012 and 2013. She also earned MVP honors in numerous tournaments, including the Centennial Tournament (2012, 2013), Rich East Tournament (2012, 2013), Maine West Tournament (2012, 2013) and the Mizuno Cup (2013).
Pfeiffer joins 6-foot-2 middle Lydia DeWeese (Columbus, Ohio) on Burdette’s list of spring signees. Also set to join the Phoenix in the fall are libero Halle Barnabo (River Falls, Wis.), outside hitter Abby Jeffcoat (Racine, Wis.) and middle blockers Beth Kuske (Germantown, Wis.) and Taylor Totka (Racine, Wis.).
