INDIANAPOLIS (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay women's tennis senior Morgan Weuve (Green Bay, Wis.) has received the 2012 Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award, the Horizon League announced Friday night at its annual awards banquet in Indianapolis.
The award is named after the former Wright State coach who exemplified the values of the league and encouraged student-athletes to compete with sportsmanship.
"Morgan exemplified positive sportsmanship all year by competing with courage and consistently remaining poised under pressure," Phoenix head coach Sara Schubring said. "She always makes the time to be friendly with opponents, coaches and fans. Considering that great sportsmanship seems to be the norm in the Horizon League, I am very happy and honored that Morgan was recognized with the Herb Foster Award."
It marks the second straight year that a Green Bay player has earned the award, as former Phoenix standout Emily Lawent was selected in 2011. Lawent also won the award in 2009.
