INDIANAPOLIS (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's tennis team (3-12, 2-5 Horizon League) suffered a pair of Horizon League road losses over the weekend, dropping 7-0 results to Wright State (Saturday) and Butler (Sunday).

Playing in its first outdoor match of the season Sunday against the Bulldogs, the Phoenix was paced by a strong doubles performance by the duo of Amanda Timm (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Samantha Iwen (De Pere, Wis.). The freshmen picked up an 8-5 win over Butler's Kahfii King and Kate Panawash at the No. 3 doubles spot for the team's lone win of the day.

"It was a great doubles effort by Timm and Iwen," Phoenix head coach Sara Schubring said. "They set each other up very well off of the serve and fought hard for the win."

On Saturday against Wright State the Phoenix was unable to take any of the singles or doubles matches as the Raiders swept the doubles point and picked up straight-set wins in all six singles contests.

"It was disappointing not to put points on the board this late in the season," Schubring said. "In doubles Wright State started out strong and we struggled to take charge at the net. In singles it was encouraging to see the team show the courage to adapt tactics to match up with a very good team in our league. Execution wasn't there, but the gap is closing and despite the loss on paper, spirit is strong and improvement was made."
