Jean Rivett
Position: Head Coach

Jean Rivett returned  to Green Bay for the eighth season of her second stint as head coach in 2013.

In 2013 Rivett oversaw a squad that feature two All-Horizon League players. Senior Jess Hrncar was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team while freshman slugger Marissa Michalkiewicz received an All-Newcomer Team nod. Mother nature wreaked havoc on the 2013 schedule for the Phoenix, as the team played its home opener and home finale in the same weekend. With five contests cancelled over the course of the season due to the weather, Green Bay narrowly missed the 2013 Horizon League Tournament.

The 2009-10 Phoenix squad had its best season in three years posting a 27-20 record, including an 11-11 mark against Horizon League opponents. Green Bay performed best in front of its home crowd, winning nine of its 15 home games on the season. One of the highlights in the 2009-10 season was Green Bay sweeping conference opponents Butler and Youngstown State in its last five games to earn the No. 5 seed in the Horizon League Championships.

For the first time since the 2002 season, three players represented Green Bay on the All-League teams. Katie Cooney received First Team All-League honors for the first time in her career while teammate Melani Niederer was named to the Second Team for the first time in her career and freshman Danielle Peerenboom was an All-Newcomer Team selection.

The 2006 Phoenix squad had three individuals - Lisa Meissner, Jenna Woepse and Kate Sullivan - named to the All-Horizon League first team, the most ever for UW-Green Bay. In addition, Anna Nieznanski was a second-team pick.

The Phoenix posted its most successful season in school history in 2005, posting a 27-18 record and earning the team's first-ever NCAA Regional appearance. Picked to finish last in the Horizon League, UW-Green Bay went 13-5 in conference play to finish second during the regular season. The Phoenix then served as host to the Horizon League tournament and posted three straight walk-off wins, including each of the last two in extra innings to clinch the NCAA berth.

The team was assigned to the Madison, Wis., Regional and stunned everyone with a dramatic 1-0 win over Pac-10 champion and sixth-ranked Oregon State in its first game. The Phoenix would eventually drop tight decisions to eventual Women's College World Series participant DePaul as well as Oregon State to end its magical run.

Rivett has played and coached softball in Northeast Wisconsin for over 20 years. She is a member of the National Softball Coaches Association, a past president of the Fox Valley Classic League and has organized numerous clinics throughout Wisconsin.

Prior to coming to UW-Green Bay, Rivett was also an assistant at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., for 10 years and Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., for four years. She joined the UW-Green Bay coaching staff in 1993 as an assistant before taking over as head coach for three years from 1994-96. Rivett owns a 132-177 coaching record at the NCAA Division I level.

Prior to returning to UW-Green Bay, Rivett coached the Green Bay East High School softball squad for four seasons. She is currently employed at St. Norbert College and has served as a personal pitching clinician at the Batter's Box in Green Bay for five years.
