GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women’s tennis team picked up its first victory of the spring season on Saturday morning, defeating cross-town foe St. Norbert College 4-3 in a road match at the Green Bay Tennis Center. The Phoenix started the contest by securing the doubles point and finished off the win by splitting the six singles matches.

Green Bay grabbed the match’s opening point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots. The duo of Stephanie Londre (Burlington, Wis.) and Claudia Negron (Lima, Peru) got things started with an 8-2 win at No. 1, and the tandem of Rachael Menos (Appleton, Wis.) and Lauren Miketinac (Green Bay, Wis.) also earned an 8-2 triumph at No. 2.

Londre kept her hot streak going in singles action, rolling to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over SNC’s Nancy Chybowski in the No. 1 contest. Londre has now won four of her last five No. 1 singles matches.

Negron also picked up a straight-set win in singles, defeating Elizabeth Manlick 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. Miketinac clinched the match for the Phoenix at No. 4, taking home a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Green Knights’ Anna Gosz.
