Softball Opens Home Slate Against Youngstown State This Weekend

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After spending over a month on a road, the Green Bay softball team will play its next eight games at home, starting with a Horizon League series against Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon.
Due to unplayable field conditions on campus, the games have been moved to the Riverview Park Softball Complex (893 Broadview Drive, Allouez) in Allouez. The two teams will play a single game on Saturday at 4 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon.
The Phoenix leads the all-time series, 24-14.
Green Bay enters the weekend 12-6 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League, most recently splitting a doubleheader at Wright State last Sunday. At the plate the Phoenix is led by sophomore Marissa Michalkiewicz (Appleton, Wis.) who has started all 18 games and is hitting .400 with 21 RBI and 24 hits, including 10 for extra bases. In the circle Lauren Danner (Kaukauna, Wis.) has a team-best 0.74 ERA and a record of 3-1 in seven appearances with three starts, while Briana Cavin (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) is a perfect 4-0 in four starts with a 1.77 ERA and two complete games.
The Penguins (15-13, 2-2 HL) are led by Miranda Castiglione who is hitting .396 with 36 hits, 15 RBI and 28 runs scored. Sarah Ingalls has a team-best 21 RBI hitting .295. Casey Crozier has posted a 9-4 record with a 2.33 ERA this season, starting 14 games with 10 complete games and three shutouts.
