LAVONIA, Mich. ( – The Green Bay softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon against Oakland at Madonna University, losing 11-3 in the first game before falling on a walk-off hit in the second game 3-2. The Golden Grizzlies swept the series and Green Bay falls to 2-21 overall and 1-8 in the Horizon League.

Oakland 11, Green Bay 3 (F/6) / Game One

The Phoenix fell behind 1-0 in the first, but answered promptly in the top of the second inning with a pair of runs. Allie Taylor led the inning off with a single back up the middle and would later come in to score her team's first run of the game on an Alexis Otto single. Otto would then steal third with Brennan Engel at the plate, as Green Bay pulled off the double steal to go ahead 2-1.

Green Bay would make it 3-1 with another run in the fourth inning, after Jaclyn Delagrange's lead-off single turned into a run on an Oakland error. The Golden Grizzlies cut the lead to one on a solo home run in the fourth, the first of what would be 10-straight runs.

Oakland then scored two in the fifth to take the one run lead, before plating seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Phoenix went quickly in the top of the sixth, and Oakland wasted no time pouring in the runs to follow.

A leadoff walk got the rally started for Oakland, as they would bat around and score seven runs in the inning. Sinead Korvela dug herself an early hole and couldn't climb out in the inning, walking five batters and allowing three hits and six earned runs.

Six different players recorded a hit for the Phoenix in the game.

Oakland 3, Green Bay 2 / Game Two

Taylor launched the dramatic game-tying home run in the top of the seventh inning to knot the game up at 2-2, but Oakland would again have the last at bat and make it count. The Golden Grizzlies led the bottom of the seventh inning off with a walk, then advance the runner to second on a sacrifice bunt.

After a fly out to center and walk, a two-out walk-off double by Oakland bround the game-winning run into score from second. The win gave the Golden Grizzlies three walk-off wins in all three games of the series.

Green Bay fell behind 2-0 in the first inning, but answered in the third inning and came back to tie it up on Taylor's home run. Kelly Christensen pitched well throughout, allowing just three runs and striking out three batters. She allowed only two runs through the first six and two-thirds innings before the walk-off double.

Taylor went 2-for-3 in the game with the home run. Green Bay managed just four hits as a team.

Green Bay will return home this coming weekend, playing host to Detroit Mercy on Friday and Saturday (doubleheader). First pitch on Friday is set for 3 p.m. at the Phoenix Softball Field.
