Green Bay Notes

CBI HISTORY
Green Bay will be making its 3rd all-time appearance in the College Basketball Invitational, owning a 1-2 all-time record after its two appearances in 2008-09 and 2009-10. The Phoenix lost to Vermont in 2009 before winning at Akron in 2010. Green Bay then lost at Saint Louis in double-overtime in the quarterfinals. The program is making its seventh postseason appearance in the last nine seasons.

FACING UMKC, AGAIN
The Kangaroos and Phoenix met back on Nov. 21, 2016, at the Bill Frack Tournament in Bowling Green, Ohio. Green Bay won that game 95-77, the third-most points it scored in any game this year. Five players recorded double-figures, led by the 17 points scored by both Warren Jones and Charles Cooper. Khalil Small added 16 and Turner Botz made three 3s and scored 15 points. It was the third game in three days for both teams, but the Phoenix still shot 53.3 percent (32-for-60), the highest percentage against it shot in any D1 non-conference game this year. Trailing 27-20 in the first half, Green Bay went on a 16-0 run that lasted over five minutes to take an 11-point lead in the break. After scoring 52 points in the second half, the Phoenix won its second game of the three-game tournament at the Stroh Center.

THE BETTER HALF
By finishing in a tie for third place, Green Bay secured a top four finish in the Horizon League for the fifth-straight season. The Phoenix has most recently finished third, fourth, second, first and fourth over the past five seasons. Only Valparaiso currently has a longer streak in the top four, finishing there in seven-straight seasons.

FINISHING STRONG
Over the last four regular seasons, Green Bay has gone 13-3 over its final four games to end the regular season. The Phoenix finished with another strong 3-1 finish this year, the same record it had to end last year before the magical run. Over those last four games, Cooper averaged 16.3 PPG and Green Bay averaged 82.0 PPG as a team. The team has been shooting hot from the field, boasting a 46.1 field goal percentage while owning a plus-7.0 rebounding margin.

SCORING WITH TEMPO
Green Bay finished the regular season by averaging a league-high 80.4 PPG, ranking 34th in the NCAA in that category. The Phoenix reached 80 points in 11 Horizon League games this season, the most of any other league team. According to KenPom, the Phoenix is averaging 74.7 possessions per 40 minutes, which is the eighth most of any other team in the country.

DOUBLE-DOUBLERS
Kerem Kanter has now tallied nine double-doubles on the season, the third most in the Horizon League behind Alec Peters (16) and Drew McDonald (10). Kanter has a double-double in four-straight games, the longest current streak of any Horizon League player. The native of Turkey has seen all nine of his career double-doubles come this season and Green Bay is 6-3 when Kanter records a DD. Charles Cooper (3) and Kenneth Lowe (1) are the only other players on the roster to have recorded a double-double in their career.
