Series History

Green Bay leads the all-time series 27-25 and dropped the earlier meeting this season in Detroit. The Phoenix has won six ofthe last eight meetings, but the two teams have alternated wins over the last four.

Green Bay...

  • snapped its two-game winning streak, but can still finish the season with a better league record than last season.

  • is 17-12 and in reach of another 20-win season, which would be the fourth-straight season the program has won 20 or more games.

  • can finish no worse than fourth place in the Horizon League this season and will finish third with a win over Detroit Mercy.

  • has secured double-digit Horizon League wins this season, the sixth-straight season it has accumulated 10 or more wins in league play.
  • is 9-3 overall at home this year and 6-2 in Horizon League play; it will play its final home game of the season for Senior Day on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
Oakland used a late 12-1 run and made six of its final seven shots in the game to lock up a top two seed in the upcoming tournament. Kenneth Lowe was big for the Phoenix, scoring 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting with five rebounds. Kerem Kanter notched his seventh double-double of the season, scoring 12 points with 13 rebounds. The Golden Grizzlies shot 55.2 percent in the game, the highest the Phoenix has allowed since its trip to Kansas State and the highest percentage in any Horizon League its played in this year. Charles Cooper gave Green Bay 15 points off the bench, but Oakland scored 50 points in the paint to earn the road win.

TOP FOUR FINISH
Despite losing out on a top two seed at Motor City Madness, Green Bay has still secured a top four finish and seed this season. The Phoenix owns tiebreakers over both Wright State and Northern Kentucky, having split with both of those teams and splitting with both Valpo and Oakland. If Green Bay beats Detroit Mercy, it will lock up the No. 3 seed in Detroit. If it loses, it will be the No. 3 or No. 4 seed depending on two other results with WSU and NKU. This marks the fifth-straight season that Green Bay has finished in the top four of the Horizon League.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE
Kerem Kanter has now notched seven double-doubles this season (the third most for any Horizon League player this season) while Charles Cooper picked up his second on Tuesday night at UIC. Cooper and Kanter each registered a double-double in Tuesday night’s win over the Flames, the second time this season that two Green Bay players have done so in the same game. Kanter was also a part of the first occurrence at Oakland on Jan. 27 at the O’Rena, joined by Kenneth Lowe’s first career double-double. The Phoenix is 2-0 in games when two players have a double-double, with both wins coming on the road.

BETTER WHEN BALANCED
Five players recorded double-figure scoring efforts in the win against UIC, the sixth time this season that five players have scored 10 or more points for Green Bay in the same game. The Phoenix is 5-1 this season when that happens, with the only defeat coming against Central Michigan and the nation’s leading scorer in Marcus Keene. Five players have reached double-figures in three Horizon League games this year, and the team is a perfect 3-0 in those games.

FINISHING STRONG
Over the past four seasons, including this year, Green Bay has gone 12-3 in its final four games of the regular season. The Phoenix is 2-1 already this season, went 3-1 in each of the last two years and went 4-0 in 2013-14. The program is again in position to gain momentum heading into the postseason, with its final game coming at the Resch Center as it tries to finish 3-1 again.

J0NE$ FOR 3
Warren Jones drained five 3s against UIC, going 5-for-7 from deep and leading the Phoenix with 22 points. Jones has now made five 3s in two Horizon League games this season and has made multiple 3s in eight league games. The senior is second on Green Bay in scoring in conference play with 11.4 points per game on 43.8 percent (28-for-64) shooting from 3-point range, which also ranks third in the league. He has now scored in double figures in 11 of 17 Horizon League games this season.

SCORING BIG
Green Bay leads the league in scoring at 79.9 points per game and ranks 41st nationally in that category. The Phoenix has scored 80 or more points in 11 Horizon League games this year and has won its last four games when its scored 80 or more. Green Bay ranks 10th in adjusted tempo, which calculates the number of offensive possessions per 40 minutes, averaging 74.6 possessions per game.

BENCH BANGERZ
Green Bay is averaging a Horizon League-best 37.6 bench points per game in Horizon League play and is fresh off a 50-point barrage on Tuesday night at UIC. The team has scored 50-plus bench points twice this season and has scored 40 or more bench points in five games. The top scorers for the Phoenix in league play this season (Charles Cooper and Warren Jones) are both coming off the bench, as are three of the top five with Jamar Hurdle.
