RHINELANDER, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay Phoenix Nordic Ski teams participated in a Central Collegiate Ski Association- NCAA qualifier this weekend in Rhinelander, Wis. The teams competed in a classic-style race, making up for a cancelled race in Duluth last weekend after poor snow conditions.
On the men’s side, senior Kyle Marshall (Roseville, MN) led the way finishing in 8th place with a time of 28:28.52 on the 10 kilometer course. There were five Phoenix men in all that competed in the four-team race, as Jacob Bauer (Richfield, MN) 31:06.22, Cory Rouw (St. Cloud, MN) 31:12.89 and Ben Lindberg (Rochester, MN) 31:42.21 closed out finishers for the team.
Bree Mucha (Soldotna, AK) was the top performer for the women, with a 5K time of 16:47.24, good for 11th place. Five more Phoenix women crossed the line, with Sadie Peterson (Mora, MN) 17:56.82, Madeline McKeefry (Andover, MN) 18:04.46, Emily Burger (Hayward, WI) 18:27.53, Katie Burger (Hayward, WI) 18:41.56 and Kayla Billett (East Bethel, MN) 18:59.87 rounding out the five-team race.
Next up for Green Bay is the NCAA Central Region Skiing Championships, with races beginning on Saturday, Feb. 18.
