Mitchell Bilitz and Kimberly Hurst Earn Academic All-League Honors
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Green Bay cross country members Mitchell Bilitz and Kimberly Hurst were among the student-athletes honored for their success both in competition and in the classroom by being named to the men's and women's 2016 Fall Academic All-League Cross Country teams, as announced by the league office on Friday.
Bilitz, a junior on the men's squad, has paced the Phoenix in all five races this season, placing a season-best fourth place at the Lucian Rosa Invitational at UW-Parkside. The human biology major owns a 3.606 grade-point average.
Hurst has been the front runner all season on the women's side, placing in the top 10 at the Bradley Intercollegiate. The junior is pursuing two majors, one in business administration and the other in Spanish, and owns a 3.959 GPA.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
