Nordic Ski Head Coach Steve Teclaw to Serve as CCSA President
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Entering his fifth season as head coach of the Phoenix Nordic ski program will be joined with additional duties for Steve Teclaw starting in 2016-17. Teclaw was elected to serve as the next President of the CCSA (Central Collegiate Ski Association) for the first time in his career and it also marks the first time in over a decade that Green Bay has had a coach serve in an officer position.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to lead our coaches and Central Region. We have a strong region with a lot of student-athlete and coaching staff talent. I hope my efforts will facilitate growth and a continued tradition of athletic and academic success,” Teclaw said.
The executive committee of the CCSA is comprised of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. According to the bylaws in place, Teclaw’s duties will include the following in his role as President:
a. To preside over all meetings of the association.
b. To be the official representative of the CCSA and actively work to promote the CCSA as a ski region at the NCAA level.
c. To enforce adherence to all rules of the association by the member institutions.
d. To promote communication among CCSA member institutions in an effort to ensure the smooth operation of the association.
e. To provide all member institutions with all of the information necessary to the administration of a successful association (meeting agendas, times, and locations, NCAA qualification materials, pertinent information from the NCAA, etc.) and be a source for answers to questions regarding the running of a quality CCSA program.
A UWGB graduate in 2011, Teclaw helped coach Matt Nichols to the NCAA Championships this past season, the first qualifier during Teclaw’s tenure as head coach (since 2012).
