Alec Brown Set to Make Phoenix Suns Debut in NBA Summer League

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – After being selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 50th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, former Green Bay standout Alec Brown will join the Suns’ 12-man roster for the 2014 NBA Summer League from July 11-21 in Las Vegas.

The first player signed by head coach Brian Wardle, Brown became the fifth player in Green Bay men’s basketball history to be selected in the NBA Draft and the first since 1996.

The Suns will begin two-a-day workouts in Phoenix on Tuesday before opening play in Vegas on Saturday, July 12 against Golden State at 7 p.m. CST. Phoenix will play three preliminary games before being seeded in a tournament bracket.

Most of the NBA Summer League games will be televised by NBA TV, and each and every game is also available through the NBA Summer League Live app.

Brown will be joined on the Suns’ summer league roster by 11 other players, highlighted by fellow draft picks T.J. Warren and Tyler Ennis, undrafted rookies Taylor Braun, Alex Oriakhi and David Stockton, and current Suns players Archie Goodwin and Miles Plumlee.

In his standout college career at Green Bay, Brown was a three-time All-Horizon League performer while racking up 1,678 points, 800 rebounds and 309 blocks in his career. His 309 blocks shattered the program record and tied the Horizon League mark, and he also finished his career shooting 40 percent (78-195) on three-pointers and 74.8 percent from the free-throw line.

As a senior in 2013-14, Brown averaged 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game in helping the Green Bay to a 24-7 overall record and a Horizon League regular season title with a 14-2 mark in league play. He knocked down 42-of-100 shots from long range and finished his career shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc (78-195).

Saturday, July 12: Phoenix vs. Golden State, 7 p.m.
Sunday, July 13: Phoenix vs. Milwaukee, 9 p.m.
Tuesday, Phoenix vs. Philadelphia, 7 p.m.

*Phoenix will play at least two more games in the elimination portion of the Summer League
