Softball Set To Play at Home in Doubleheader Against UW-Parkside
GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Continuing its string of eight game at home, the Green Bay softball team will welcome UW-Parkside for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.
The Phoenix will be playing the doubleheader on campus after opening the eight-game homestand last weekend in Allouez.
Green Bay enters Wednesday’s 14-7 overall, most recently taking two of three games over Horizon League foe Youngstown State this past weekend. UW-Parkside is 2-18 on the season and has lost five in a row, including falling in three extra-inning contests.
The Phoenix and Rangers have not faced each other since the 1994 season when UWP swept Green Bay in a doubleheader.
At the plate, Green Bay is led by sophomore Marissa Michalkiewicz (Appleton, Wis.) who has started all 21 games and is hitting .382 with 26 hits, five doubles, three triples, three home runs and 23 RBI. Junior Hailey Mohrfeld (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) is hitting .306 with a team-leading 18 runs scored and three home runs, while senior Miranda Reinke (Milwaukee, Wis.) is a perfect 4-for-4 on the base path.
In the circle, junior Lauren Danner (Kaukauna, Wis.) has a team-leading 0.70 ERA in eight appearances, while senior Ashley Nannemann (Burlington, Wis.) is 4-4 in eight starts, posting a 1.85 ERA and 25 strikeouts. Freshman Heather Sanderson (Rapid River, Mich.) leads the team with 32 strikeouts.
Kira Cooper has started all 20 games for the Rangers and is hitting a team-best .426 with 29 hits and 13 runs scored. Kirsten Luevano leads the team with 16 RBI, and Lexi Sotiros is a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts. In the circle, Carly Dundee has appeared in 13 contests with seven starts, posting a team-best 5.01 ERA and 27 strikeouts.
