MILWAUKEE (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Playing its first match since its annual trip to Florida, the Green Bay men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at in-state rival Marquette on Friday evening at Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Phoenix fell to 10-7 on the year, while the Golden Eagles improved to 11-8.

Marquette grabbed the 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Green Bay's lone doubles win came from Michael Tebon (Excelsior, Minn.) and Joey Leto (Downers Grove, Ill.), who defeated MU's Gleb Sklyr and Logon Collins 8-4 at No. 2.

The Golden Eagles increased their lead to 3-0 with victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots before Leopold Gomez Islinger (Weiden, Germany) got the Phoenix on the board with his 7-6, 6-1 win over Vukasin Teofanovic at No. 2.

Dan Mamalat clinched the victory for Marquette with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles. Howard Scott (Exeter, England) collected the second singles win for the Phoenix at No. 3, defeating Collins 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
