GREEN BAY, Wis. ( – After leading the Green Bay men’s basketball team to a pair of road wins at Wright State and UIC, senior Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the third time in 2013-14, the league office announced on Monday. Brown shared the award with Valparaiso’s Lavonte Dority.

With Brown taking home three and junior teammate Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.) winning five weekly awards, Green Bay has won Horizon League Player of the Week eight times in 11 weeks this season. Prior to this season, the Horizon League record for a program was six.

Brown also won Horizon League Player of the Week honors on Nov. 25 after recording the third triple-double in program history and on Dec. 23 after scoring a career-high 40 points in a victory over Fairfield.

On Friday night at Wright State, Brown made 8-of-11 shots from the field and scored 24 points in a 79-69 Phoenix victory. His final two points made him just the ninth player in program history to score more than 1,500 career points.

In Sunday’s comeback victory over UIC, Brown hit his first six shot attempts and totaled 13 of his game-high 23 points in the first half. The senior finished the game 9-of-11 from the field and added three blocked shots as the Phoenix rallied past the Flames for a 69-64 win in Chicago.

For the week, Brown averaged 23.5 points on 17-of-22 shooting (77.3 percent) from the field. His efforts helped Green Bay extend its winning streak to 10 games and finish off a four-game road trip with a perfect record.

On the season, Brown is averaging 17 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game. He is shooting a career-high 51.9 percent from the field and 44.4 percent (24-54) from long range.

Brown needs just eight more rebounds to become the only player in Horizon League and Green Bay history with 1,500 career points (1524), 750 career rebounds (742) and 250 blocked shots (275). He is also the only active player nationally to have accumulated those numbers.

Green Bay returns home this week to play games against Oakland (Wednesday, 7 p.m.) and Detroit (Sunday, 1 p.m.) at the Resch Center.
