GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – For the third time this season, Green Bay freshman Tesha Buck (Red Wing, Minn.) was tabbed as the Horizon League Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
On Sunday, Buck finished with a career- and game-high 17 points as the Phoenix fell to Wichita State. She shot 5-for-7 from the field while playing a career-high 38 minutes in the contest. Buck also added a career-high seven rebounds and set a career-high with five three-point field goals and six total field goals made.
Currently averaging 10.3 points per game, Buck is the only freshman in the Horizon League to average double-figures in scoring and continues to pace the conference with a 2.85 assist-turnover ratio. She also leads the Phoenix in assists per game (4.1), steals per game (1.7), minutes played (31.8) and free throw percentage (13-18, 72.2%).
Wright State's Tay'ler Mingo joined Buck on the weekly honor roll as the player of the week after posting a game-high 24 points in the Raiders 79-54 win over Xavier.
Buck took home the award on back-to-back weeks earlier this season (Nov. 18 and Nov. 25). The Phoenix has now earned the award four out of the six weeks this season, as redshirt freshman Mehryn Kraker (West Allis, Wis.) was named the freshman of the week to start the season.
Green Bay returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, welcoming nationally ranked Purdue to the Kress Center for a 7 p.m. contest.
