GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men’s soccer program was recently awarded an NSCAA Team Academic Award for its accomplishments in the classroom during the 2012-13 academic year.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) annually recognizes college soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom in addition to its work on the field.

Head coach Dan Popik’s squad recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.03 during the academic year to take home honors for the second time in program history (2010). The Phoenix was one of five teams in the Horizon league to receive the honor including Milwaukee, UIC, Oakland and Valparaiso.

“This is a great honor for the program and demonstrates our players commitment to achieving excellence in the classroom,” head coach Dan Popik said.

A total of 862 college soccer teams (269 men, 593 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the distinction. Of that total, 182 school had both their men’s and women’s programs recognized, including Green Bay. The entire list is available here.
