– Green Bay volleyball head coach Michaela Franklin has announced the addition of three new players to her 2014 roster, as Wisconsin high school standouts Abby Jeffcoat (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine’s HS), Beth Kuske (Germantown, Wis./Germantown HS) and Taylor Totka (Racine, Wis./Horlick HS) have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to join the Phoenix next fall.

“We are excited for our class of 2014,” Franklin said. “They will be great additions to our roster and will fit in perfectly with our team. Getting to know each of them and their families throughout the recruiting process was a pleasure, and we are excited for all of them to join our extended family at Green Bay.”

A 5-foot-11 outside hitter, Jeffcoat is St. Catherine’s High School’s career leader in kills with 1,699. She led the Metro Classic Conference with 712 kills as a senior in 2013, helping the Lady Angels to their fourth-straight undefeated conference season (12-0) and a WIAA Division 3 state semifinals appearance. All told, Jeffcoat’s teams were a combined 46-0 in conference play from 2010-13.

As a freshman in 2010, Jeffcoat helped St. Catherine’s to a perfect 43-0 record and a Division 3 state title. She set the state tournament’s record for hitting percentage (.400) that season, and was recognized as one of’s Top-25 finalists for national freshman of the year. She is a four-time all-conference honoree, two-time second-team all-state selection, two-time conference player of the year, two-time team MVP and the 2013 Racine Journal Times Player of the Year.

“I’m really looking forward to Abby coming in,” Franklin said. “She does an outstanding job on the outside and is a nice ball-control player. She’ll be a great addition to next year’s team.”

A versatile 6-foot-2 middle, Kuske led Germantown High School to a 33-15 record in 2013. She earned third-team all-state and second-team all-North Shore Conference honors as a senior, and was an all-conference honorable mention selection as a junior in 2012. Kuske finished third in the conference in hitting percentage (.393) and fourth in kills (2.6 per set) in 2013. As a junior, she accumulated 283 total blocks, averaging an impressive 2.4 per set.

“Beth is a middle, but we recruited her because she’s a great athlete,” Franklin said. “She might play outside, she might play right side and she might play middle. We’re looking forward to getting her here and working with her.”

A 6-foot-1 middle blocker, Totka helped Horlick High School to a Southeast Conference title in 2013. She was recognized as her team’s MVP and defensive player of the year, and was nominee for all-county player of the year. She led her team in blocks four straight years and was a two-time all-conference honorable mention selection.

“Taylor is a very nice middle,” Franklin said. “She’s an athlete who gets off the ground very well, and we’re excited to add her to our team.”
