– Green Bay women’s basketball head coach Kevin Borseth has completed his 2013-14 coaching staff with the addition of Alex Antonen as the director of women’s basketball operations. Antonen brings more than four years of combined NCAA and WNBA experience to a Phoenix program that finished 29-3 overall and 16-0 in Horizon League play last season.

“Alex brings a lot of knowledge and experience to our program, and with his past experiences at the NCAA and WNBA levels I’m confident that he will do great things for our team,” Borseth said.

A 2013 graduate of the University of Minnesota, Antonen served as the student manager for the Golden Gophers’ women’s basketball team all four years of his collegiate career. During his time with the program, he aided the coaching staff with film exchange and breakdown, running practices and scouting opponents.

While at Minnesota he also worked as a basketball operations and video intern for the Minnesota Lynx, and was a member of the staff during the team’s 2011 WNBA Championship season. In his two years with the Lynx, Antonen helped the coaching staff run practice, broke down game film, assisted with scouting and worked directly with the director of operations to fulfill the team’s equipment needs.

In addition to his experience at Minnesota and with the Lynx, he served as a camp counselor at North Dakota State in 2011 and 2012 where he assisted the coaching staff with the program’s summer women’s basketball camp.

“I’m honored to be a part of the family here at Green Bay and things have been going extremely well since day one,” Antonen said. “Coach Borseth has done a phenomenal job of making this program so successful and putting it in the national spotlight, so I’m excited to get my first season here started.”

Antonen joins assistant coach Megan Vogel, who was hired in April, as the second new face on the Green Bay coaching staff for the 2013-14 campaign.

When he’s not working, Antonen enjoys golfing, reading and watching baseball—especially his favorite team, the New York Yankees.
