GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Two goals separated by only 11 seconds highlighted a wet and rainy Friday night at Aldo Santaga Stadium, but perennial Horizon League powerhouse Milwaukee (5-9-1, 4-2-0) was able to post a 2-1 road win over Green Bay (4-10-1, 1-3-1) in women's soccer action.

Milwaukee, tied at the top of the Horizon League standings in pursuit of at least a share of its 13th consecutive Horizon League regular season title, scored first when Krissy Dorre dribbled into the box and scored at the 7:40 mark of the opening half.

Just 11 seconds later, the Phoenix responded with the equalizer. Just after the kickoff, junior Hekla Palmadottir (Akranes, Iceland) served the ball over the top of the Panther defense to leave senior Megan Braatz (Waukesha, Wis.) with a 1-on-1 with the keeper. Braatz beat Milwaukee keeper Jamie Forbes for her team-high fourth goal of the season.

Dorre scored again for the Panthers in the 30th minute, tallying her third goal of the season which proved to be the game-winner. Dorre's goal was assisted by Emily Scott and Kelly Lewers.

Green Bay had a great chance at the equalizer just over 10 minutes after halftime, when sophomore Hannah Kernen (Belleville, Wis.) got behind the Milwaukee defense and had a 1-on-1 with Forbes. Kernen's shot was barely deflected by Forbes and slid past the right crossbar.

Green Bay and Milwaukee each had seven shots in the first half and finished with 11 for the game. Phoenix head coach Trevor Warren was disappointed with the loss but proud of the way his team battled the Panthers evenly throughout the 90 minutes.

"I was very proud of the effort tonight against Milwaukee," said Warren. "It is the best we have played them during my five years as coach at Green Bay. "We obviously responded really well to their scoring early in the game with a nice goal from Megan, and we had two great chances on breakaways in the second half that on another night we may have scored to equalize or win the game. The fact that we ended tied in shots is a testament to how hard our girls played, and if we bring that intensity to the last two games there is no reason we can't get into the Horizon League Tournament.

Green Bay has two more regular season contests remaining as it fights to earn a spot in the Horizon League Championship. The Phoenix plays at Loyola on Wednesday at 5 p.m. before welcoming Valparaiso to Santaga Stadium for the regular season finale and Senior Day on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
