GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's soccer team (4-9-1, 1-2-1 HL) will host the reigning Horizon League Champions on Friday, Oct. 19 when Milwaukee takes the short trip north to Green Bay and visits Aldo Santaga Stadium for a 7 p.m. matchup. The Phoenix will be looking for its first win since 2003 over the Panthers.

Green Bay is coming off what head coach Trevor Warren described as one of the best performances by his team this season, a 2-0 non-conference, home loss to Wisconsin on Oct. 8. Despite the outcome, Warren said the team's defense, comprised entirely of underclassmen, stepped up and played extremely well against a tough Big 10 team.

With 11 days off, the Phoenix has had time for two of its key players to recover from illness or injury. Freshman Sydney Born (Edina, Minn.) missed Green Bay's game against Wisconsin, as well as the team's 2-1 overtime victory over Youngstown State two days prior due to illness. Junior Renee Therrien (Winnipeg, Manitoba) suffered a broken nose early on in the game against Youngstown State on Oct. 6 and has since worn a face mask to prevent further injury.

Milwaukee (4-7-1, 3-2-0 HL) hops onto I-43 and heads north to Green Bay coming off a 2-1 double-overtime win against Loyola at home on Oct. 10. The Panthers also won their previous game, beating Valparaiso 1-0 on the road. Despite holding the second place spot in the Horizon League Standings, the Panthers are just 2-4 on the road this season.

After Friday's matchup with Milwaukee, the Phoenix will travel to Chicago to take on Loyola on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for the final road contest of the 2012 season. Green Bay will then return home for Senior Day and the regular season home finale on Saturday, Oct. 27 against Valparaiso. Kickoff on Senior Day will be at 1 p.m.

SHARING THE WEALTH: In a season where Green Bay has scored almost double what it did in 2011, the Phoenix has eight players with assists on the year. Two Green Bay players have multiple assists, including senior Megan Braatz (Waukesha, Wis.). Her three assists are tied for sixth most in the Horizon League this season.

TAMING THE PANTHERS: A win tonight would be the first for Green Bay against the Panthers since 2003. In 28 meetings, Milwaukee holds a 21-6-1 all-time record against Green Bay, dating back to 1988. After a string of successes in the early to mid-1990s, the Phoenix hasn't been able to match that success in recent years. Milwaukee, then ranked No. 15 in the nation, won the 2011 meeting at home by a score of 7-0.

SAVING THE DAY: Sophomore Katy Pilarzyk (Madison, Wis.) has 55 saves on the season, good for the fourth most individual saves in the Horizon League. As a team, Green Bay's 64 saves this season ties for the third most in the league.

EXTRA TIME WITH TREVOR WARREN: Warren and host Andrew Gavin sat down this week for another episode of Extra Time with Trevor Warren, discussing the team's games against Youngstown State and Wisconsin, as well as Friday's league contest against Milwaukee. To watch the episode, click here.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE: Green Bay travels to Chicago to take on Loyola on Oct. 24 in a 1 p.m. matchup, and then returns home for the regular season home finale and Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 27 against Valparaiso. Kickoff against the Crusaders will be at 1 p.m.
