Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate: Top-10 Reasons to Attend

GREEN BAY, Wis. ( - The Green Bay athletics department will host the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate on the Bart Starr Plaza at the Resch Center on Saturday from 2-5 p.m., welcoming season and Pick 5 ticket holders and kicking off single-game ticket sales for Green Bay's game against Marquette on Dec. 19.

All season ticket and Pick 5 package holders are invited to the event, and any person who purchases a ticket to the Marquette game that day will have the first chance at the best tickets for the showdown with the BIG EAST opponent and gain entry to the tailgate. Green Bay-Marquette tickets can only be purchased this day in-person at the Resch Center box office. Season ticket and Pick 5 packages will also be for sale at the box office.

Leading up to the event, has unveiled the top-10 reasons to attend the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate:

10. TIP OFF THE 2012-13 SEASON: Join the fun and help the Phoenix tip off the 2012-13 season! Pick up your tickets, secure the best seats to the Marquette at Green Bay game on Dec. 19, win great raffle prizes, meet your favorite Phoenix players and get autographs, eat free food and listen to live music from Wisconsin's own, Spin.


9. FREE FOOD: Who doesn't love free food? All ticket purchasers who come to the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate will enjoy free food at the event. Beverages will also be available for purchase.


8. LIVE MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT: Spin will take the stage during the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate to provide Phoenix fans with live music and entertainment. Spin is a local band out of Oshkosh which is a regular in the Green Bay area and plays throughout the state of Wisconsin. The cover band plays hits from the 80s, 90s and today.


7. HEAR FROM COACH WARDLE AND THE PLAYERS: Throughout the event, John Maino will serve as the emcee and give fans a chance to hear from head coach Brian Wardle and players through on-stage interviews about the upcoming season. Every 30 minutes, the band will take a break and Maino will take the stage to conduct an interview and announce the winning raffle ticket numbers for the prizes. The players and coaches will also be available for autographs.

6. FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY: The Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate will provide fun and entertainment for the entire family. Kids of all ages can interact with their favorite Phoenix players while playing basketball, getting their faces painted, making balloons and hanging out on the inflatables. The kids can also join the fun on the dance floor while listening to live music.


5. GREAT RAFFLE PRIZES: All season ticket, Pick 5 and Green Bay-Marquette ticket purchasers that attend the Phoenix Men’s Basketball Tailgate will receive raffle tickets to win one of six great prizes which will be raffled off every 30 minutes throughout the event. Must be Present to Win. Raffle prizes include:
• Four tickets to the Green Bay at Wisconsin game on Dec. 12
• Basketball autographed by the 2012-13 Phoenix and staff plus a $100 gift card to the Green Bay Phoenix Team Store
• His and Her The Watch Co. watches from Diamond and Gold
• Buffalo Wild Wings Watch Party for 12 on Friday, Feb. 15 when the Phoenix plays at Cleveland State on ESPNU
• Two airline tickets to go watch the Phoenix play (courtesy of Chambers Travel)
• Suite for 16 people including food and drink for the Green Bay-Marquette game on Dec. 19 at the Resch Center


4. MEET THE 2012-13 PHOENIX: The 2012-13 Green Bay men’s basketball team will be at the Phoenix Men’s Basketball Tailgate, giving Phoenix fans a chance to see returners like senior Brennan Cougill, juniors Alec Brown, Kam Cerroni and Daniel Turner and sophomore Keifer Sykes. All of the players, including all six newcomers, will be talking with fans and signing autographs.


3. PICK UP YOUR FIRST-EDITION PHOENIX INSIDER MAGAZINE: All season ticket holders will receive their complimentary issue of the first edition of the Phoenix Insider, the 2012-13 magazine featuring the Green Bay men's and women's basketball teams. All other ticket purchasers at the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate will have an opportunity to buy the 72-page, full-color magazine at the event. 


2. GET THE BEST SEATS FOR GREEN BAY-MARQUETTE: The Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate is the first chance to secure the best seats to see Marquette at Green Bay on Dec. 19 at the Resch Center. Single-game ticket sales to the game will be launched during the tailgate and will only be available that day at the Resch Center box office. Plus, getting your Green Bay-Marquette ticket on Oct. 6 gains access to the other great events and entertainment of the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate.

THANK YOU PHOENIX TICKET HOLDERS: Head coach Brian Wardle and his program want to show their appreciation to loyal Phoenix ticket holders, the group that helped the team to a 12-2 home record in 2011-12. All season ticket holders and Pick 5 package purchasers who have renewed or purchased tickets for the 2012-13 season are invited to pick up their tickets on Oct. 6 and join Wardle and his team for the Phoenix Men's Basketball Tailgate. Season tickets and Pick 5 plans will also be available for purchase at the event.
